Federal Legislation

With the dangers counterfeit drugs pose on America’s prescription drug supply, Congress is making efforts to enact legislation which will protect consumers from these bogus medications.

HR 5156

Congressman Mike Rogers’s (R-8-MI) bill, HR 5156, mandates tough criminal penalties for those found to be engaged in the manufacture, distribution and sale of counterfeit prescription drugs.

HR 5156, known as the Counterfeit Drug Prevention Act of 2006, was introduced in April, 2006. It was referred to the House Subcommittee on Health on April 19, 2006 and, as of May 17, 2007, has had no further action.
